SPACE

A Home Away From Home

An affordable, attractive and safe alternative for your holiday

Hotels can be relatively expensive and somewhat restrictive. Rented apartments can often be short of that holiday experience. Staying with family or friends, though always delightful, can be a strain. For a family or a group visiting Dominica the situation is compounded by increased complexity.

While on holiday here, you will have all the privacy and control you would have at home – maybe even more – while having the option to do as little, or as much, as you want.

Designed and self-built by the owners for their three daughters and extended family, the home is ideal for a family, group of friends or just like-minded individuals with a shared passion. Its location provides an unspoiled base from which to enjoy all that Dominica has to offer

SPACE

Whatever the reason for your trip to Dominica – a holiday, to attend an event, a celebration – the home and its environment will enhance your visit.

  • The facilities and space to make your group feel as comfortable and at ease as they would at home.
  • Rates designed to make the house accessible to everyday people, just like us.
  • High-specifications throughout and stunning views will, in themselves, augment your experience of Dominica.

With minimum sharing of facilities, relatively isolated but conveniently located with good transport access, it is the ideal holiday home, location and setting to get-away from it all. Described as a cross between a designer-home and a boutique hotel, it is child friendly, fully wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages.

The accommodation offers 3,800 sq. ft. of living space spread over two floors (both wheelchair accessible) and is fully furnished with a minimalist approach. The all-white décor provides the ideal foreground against which the colour and detail of the surrounding mountains and rainforest stand out, with doors and furniture hand-made from wood re-cycled from the building phase

SPACE

The innovative design takes full advantage of the view and setting, some 2,000 feet above sea level on a ridge overlooking the village of Bellevue Chopin. The airy, light-filled property offers an experience in indoor-outdoor living that is hard to match.

The first floor sleeps four (can accommodate six) in two bedroom suites plus the Isabel Suite.

All suites have en-suite, walk-in shower/wet room, queen-sized bed, and direct access onto the spacious covered terraces that span the rear of the house across both floors.

The Isabel Suite is a fully self-contained suite with it’s own kitchen, TV and everything needed to be autonomous from the rest of the house. Integrated into the first floor, it is ideal for those with young children or who just just deserve even more privacy.

The 2nd floor sleeps four with two-bedroom suites plus Len’s Lounge, a large, open-plan living area for all the family to dine, relax and entertain. It comes with a second, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a second TV lounge, a viewing lounge, and an open façade to the covered terrace

Set in a private garden on a ridge overlooking the village of Bellevue Chopin, the property has unrestricted views that encompass four mountain peaks, the village of Bellevue Chopin and the valley down to the Atlantic Ocean. Every suite has a view, with the garden and Len’s Lounge providing a majestic 270-degree view.

Whether seeking a tranquil, private vacation home or a base to enjoy the island and explore, this distinctive family home offers an ideal opportunity to do it in style.

SPACE

Top 10 Benefits

SPACE

#1 SPACE and more space: 380+ sq.ft. average space per person; more than the average sized hotel room.

Luxuriate in the sense of roominess as the one-off design makes the most of the 3,800 sq. ft. of indoor-outdoor living space. Plenty of space If you fancy time for yourself/s away from your suite, If you want to work; read; write; paint; think or just sit back and enjoy the view, choose from Len’s lounge or the two 80-feet long covered terraces (with over 500 sq. ft. of open-air space each) or the large fenced garden, with shelter, that surrounds the house (leaves you alone with the mountains).

With two kitchens and dining areas, two TV rooms and comfortable seating throughout, there is ample space for everyone to do their-own-thing, in their own time, without imposing.

#2 KEEP THE WHOLE FAMILY HAPPY:  Child friendly, fully wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages – the house was designed for large families/groups.

Families come in different sizes and with mixed sensitivities. This can make it challenging to cater to different tastes, schedules and expectations when it comes to cooking, dining or entertaining, especially for those with babies or toddlers to care for. And. as we ourselves know, happy children generally makes for happier parents.

For the youngsters, there is plenty of room to run around and explore and with safety features such as stair-gates and railings on the terraces the house is child-friendly (but not child-proof). For older children, camping in the fenced, private garden offers an alternative way to experience the Caribbean. With internet/Wi-Fi available throughout the house and two smart TV’s everyone can get their required ‘screen’ time as appropriate or required.  Two fully equipped kitchens/dining areas means that cooking and dining can be flexible; an affair for the extended family or more personal time with children or partner.

Whatever your thing is – reading, a glass of wine  – there is the time and space to enjoy it knowing the youngsters are safe and secure.

Both floors are wheelchair accessible – via a slightly inclined ramp for the second floor – and there are no internal steps or obstacles on either floor. For those with children or who would prefer not to climb stairs, there is a kitchen and TV on each floor and with the en-suite showers/wet rooms there is no need to go upstairs or downstairs to access bathroom facilities.

#3 COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE OF HOME: Be somewhere new, doing something new while feeling at ease and secure.

As a fully equipped family home, everything you need to settle in and relax is in place. Whatever time you arrive, morning or evening, you’ll be able to settle in quickly and make your plans for the day or night. Whatever you do, the choice will be yours, with minimal stress.

Soon you’ll be relaxing in your favourite spot, cooking your favourite meals, relishing the private bathroom facilities, entertaining, watching TV – anything you want as it’s your home. Entertainment includes two smart TV’s with internet/Wi-Fi, allowing you to supplement the cable services available with your own subscription TV accounts (Netflix, Prime Video, etc.). Bring your boom-box as the acoustics are great and music sounds fantastic through the house.

For those with young children, the fully self-contained Isabel Suite, with its cot and high chair, gives you the quiet space to acclimatise the young ones after a long journey and helps you transition to holiday mode quicker.

* Certain grocery supplies can be pre-ordered for your arrival. Just ask Rachel for details. In any case, basics such as coffee tea, sugar, milk, bread, butter, etc. will be available in the house when you arrive.

#4 REVEL IN THE PRIVACY AND SECLUSION that the house and the setting offer

The house has the space and facilities to allow you to relax, entertain and work, without being disturbed or imposing on others.  Features – such as the minimum sharing of amenities; private access; relative seclusion – enhance your privacy.

The house sits in its own private, fenced garden on the outskirts of the original village of Bellevue Chopin, with one neighbour to the east.

Each floor has its own, wheel-chair accessible entrance into a hallway from which each suite is directly accessible – no trudging through other people’s ‘space’ to get to your room or bathroom. The front door on the upper floor has a push-pad entry system with 4-digit code that only the residents will be given. Additionally, each suite has a similar entry system for which only the occupants will have the code.

Each bedroom suite has an en-suite walk-in shower/wet room, internet and Wi-Fi, personal space on the expansive covered terrace accessed directly from your suite via tinted glass doors. The Isabel Suite is a fully self-contained apartment integrated into the first floor and is ideal for those with a baby and/or toddler or who just need more privacy.

Each of the two floors is independent of the other so if appropriate, or desirable, occupants of each floor can maintain ‘social distance’ from the occupants of the other floor.

#5 FREEDOM means the flexibility to do what you want, when you want – it’s your home.

Freedom that comes from having the run of the house, the flexibility to set your own schedule.

No need to organise your itinerary around the time table of a hotel or the convenience of your host – do what you want, when you want and take as much time as you like. Sleeping, relaxing, cooking, eating, entertaining, going out, coming in.. all in your own good time.

#6 LOCATION AND SURROUNDINGS: Immerse yourself in the experience of Dominica

Overlooking the village of Bellevue Chopin, you will be surrounded by authentic Dominica in the heart of the island. Peace and quiet: Beautiful views: Healthy food: Pleasant climate: Convenience: Privacy: Space to roam.

Set in the foothills of Morne Anglais, you are free to wander around, day and night (the forest is lovely under a full moon) with people  happy to see new visitors. Visit local gardens and purchase their organically grown produce. Stop passing fishermen to purchase their fresh catch. As you are cooking you can see the gardens and the sea your food came from, probably that very day.

The slow pace and tranquil surroundings encourages relaxation while the abundant space allows time and room for one-self. Light pollution is minimal so you get to see the stars, in a new way for many people. Having a spice (rum) at a small, local bar while seeing a lit-up Roseau, the capital, down on the coast is an experience.

The property offers direct and immediate access to the public bus system and is located at the junction of stages 2 and 3 of, the Waitukubuli Hiking Trail, the whole area is perfect for hiking, running, strolling or just sitting by the roadside. Twenty-minute drive to Roseau and in the opposite direction, Grand Bay.

#7 PANORAMIC VIEWS: ‘Bellevue’ means ‘beautiful view’ and the house provides some of the best.

The house was designed to maximise the view and let residents ‘enjoy, access and maintain a connection to the outdoors at all times’. The view encompass four mountain peaks, the village of Bellevue Chopin, the returning rainforest and the valley, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The 80-foot long covered terraces with open facades and strategically placed windows brings the outdoors indoors.  From inside every suite the tinted glass doors/windows provide a continuous reminder of where you are.

#8 POST-COVID GET-AWAY: Peace of mind – Pre-coronavirus design meets post-pandemic necessities.

Large and spacious, with an average of 380+ sq. ft. of living space per person, the house provides scope to uphold ‘social distancing’ as appropriate. The minimum sharing of facilities cuts the chances of cross contamination. The lack of adornment and all-concrete, all-white décor provides a clinical environment that is easily cleaned and sanitised. Daily cleaning and strict deep-cleaning protocols further mitigates possible risks.

Each of the two floors is independent of the other so if appropriate, or desirable, occupants of each floor can maintain ‘social distance’ from the occupants of the other floor.

And, like Dominica, Bellevue Chopin is off-the-beaten-track, relatively isolated, has relatively low population density with few tourists and lots of space to roam surrounded by nature and clean air. Whether with family or friends, you are able share and enjoy the house and environment together.

#9 MORE FOR LESS: Greater indulgence at less expense.

No one wants to be so crude as to talk about money, but, let’s face it, everyone wants their money’s worth.

And, as decision-makers, you want the best for your family or group. Our experience is that, once accommodation is chosen, people’s emotions sway from ‘I hope it’s not too good to be true’ to, ‘I hope it’s not as bad as it could be’.

So, what is on offer? Is it luxury budget, or, budget luxury?

Put simply: The house allows you enjoy the best of two worlds. The comfort, privacy and convenience of a large, modern, purpose built home…. combined with the style, setting and experience of a boutique hotel.

Space, convenience, high specifications and panoramic views come as standard. There are no hidden bills (Electricity: Cold/Hot water: TV and Cable: Cooking gas: Internet/Wi-Fi are all included in rates). No hidden fees. No surcharges.

And, with two kitchens and ample places to dine, self-catering and dining-in become not only cost effective but a pleasurable convenience.

Distinctive design, original features and exclusive hillside location means that guests are always getting the holiday experience. Waking up to the view, relaxing on the terrace, listening to the sounds of nature at night … you will know you are somewhere different.

With very competitive rates the house and the overall experience provides superior value for money.

#10 SHARE A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS: Design, location and setting – all you need is the right people for a holiday to remember

There you have it – plenty of reasons to get in touch. If you can think of other benefits of vacationing in this house in particular and in Dominica generally, please, let us know.

Many Thanks
